​Bombay Bazaar is a family-owned business that serves Indian food and they offer a lunch buffet with many vegetarian and vegan options.  Attached to the restaurant is a grocery store where you can buy specialty ingredients for preparing Indian food at home.   

Fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain offering many different vegetarian and vegan items such as their sofritas which is a richly seasoned and tasty meat substitute that can be made into burritos, tacos, salads and bowls.  Just make sure to ask for no cheese or sour cream.  

​D'Allesandro's is a casual pizza place in Nexton in Summerville. They list three vegan pizzas on their menu: The Om, The Amy, and The Satsang, which do not have cheese. There also several vegetarian pizzas that can be made without cheese, like the It's Too Easy Being Green. Or you can always build your own pizza with your choice of toppings. They also offer salads.

​Dashi's menu is a mixture of Asian and Mexican food. It started as a food truck, which they still have, but now they have a brick and mortar, also. Many items on the menu (anything that says "Choice of Protein") can be made vegan. The vegan protein options are Marinated Fried Tofu and Seasonal Veggies. Options include tacos, a burrito, a banh mi sandwich, and pad thai. The staff seem pretty knowledgeable about how to veganize menu options.

Donato's Pizza brings another vegan pizza option to Summerville. They are a casual pizza chain that offers a vegan crust, lots of veggies and a vegan sausage. Unfortunately, they do not have vegan cheese. They also offer a "Fresh Vegy" Sub that looks delicious and several salads. Detailed ingredient info is available on their website.

This busy pizza joint offers wood-fired pizzas that can easily be made vegan without the cheese.  Note-only the olive oil, puttanesca, and roasted red pepper bases are vegan. The red sauce and pesto both contain cheese. There are lots of veggies to choose from and they usually offer one vegan pizza on their menu.  Great place to go for a pizza and a drink as they offer beer, wine and other spirits as well.  They also have a craft bakery on the back side of the restaurant where you can get great fresh bread. 

Five Loaves is a casual restaurant with two locations (Mount Pleasant, too). They serve salads (ask for no cheese) and a vegan burger. Also, they always have a delicious Thai coconut hot pot on the dinner menu and often have vegan soups or entrée specials.

​Istanbul is a casual, buffet-style restaurant in the Tanger Outlet area of North Charleston.  They serve Middle Eastern food and there are many vegan options on the buffet including falafel, hummus, various salads, stuffed grape leaves and fresh pita bread. The food is all very tasty and the staff are helpful in letting you know what items are vegan-friendly.

This casual North Charleston restaurant is open breakfast, lunch, and brunch! They offer a "veg out" wrap with shitake bacon, the "energy salad" with kale and quinoa, and awesome cactus & portobello tacos! Also, most of the sides are vegan.

​​La Hacienda is a chain of casual Mexican restaurants in the Charleston area. You can order veggie fajitas or get potatoes, spinach, black beans or mushrooms for a filling. Just ask for no cheese or sour cream. And, of course, you can always order a margarita!

Los Altos Mexican Grill offers a few vegetarian options that can be made vegan with the omission of cheese and sour cream, including veggie fajitas, tofu tacos al pastor, portabello tacos, and veggie soup. You can also sub beans, potatoes, mushrooms or spinach as a filling for most items on the menu. Los Altos is owned by the same restaurant group as Agaves Cantina and Azul Mexicano.

​This Mellow Mushroom location has a really cool vibe to it, keeping in line with all of the other locations. They have loads of veggie, tempeh and tofu options along with vegan cheese to top those pizzas and stuff those calzones. They also have lots of beer on tap! The North Charleston location is perfect after a day of shopping or if you are going to an event at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center or Coliseum. It is also close to the airport if you need a quick bite to eat before a flight. It is a great place for get-togethers as there is something for everyone! 

​Mod Pizza is a fast-casual chain restaurant that makes pizzas and salads with unlimited toppings. They have original and gluten-free crust, both of which are vegan, and offer vegan cheese and lots of veggies to top them off. Their website gives detailed nutrition info.

​Moe's is a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain with several locations in the Charleston area. They offer burritos, tacos, burrito bowls and taco salads with the option of organic tofu.

Platia is a Greek restaurant. Their vegan offerings feature an Impossible gyro made with Impossible brand "meat". They also offer a falafel pita.

Poke Bros. is a chain of fast-casual build-your-own Poke Bowl restaurants. You can start with a base of rice or salad and top it with lots of veggie options, including tofu, edamame, carrots, ginger, seaweed salad and avocado. Then top it off with a sauce and maybe another topping like sesame seeds or fried onions. Yum!

​The name says it all-Sesame Burgers and Beer is a casual restaurant/bar that offers lots of different beers and house-made black bean burgers with various toppings. Their black bean burger is vegan but the buns are not, so you can get your burger as a salad. The condiments here are made from scratch (ask for the house-made mustard-it rocks! Sadly, the house-made ketchup includes anchovy). And their fries are delicious!

At Summerville Burrito Co., you can get sautéed veggies and guacamole in a burrito, taco, bowl or salad with your choice of fillings (beans and rice), toppings (jalapenos, cilantro, corn salsa) and sauces. You order by marking your choices on a menu and they make it to order, so you can specify no cheese or sour cream. On Tuesdays they have 3 for $6 tacos and on Thursdays they have $6 burritos and bowls.

​This casual Mexican joint offers a mushroom taco, a Tempura Avocado taco, great guac, and black beans can easily be added to other menu options to veganize them. They also offer a veggie rice bowl and a taco salad. For all items, ask for no cheese or sour cream. Some of their flour tortillas contain lard, so ask for a vegan-friendly tortilla.

Thai East Fusion stands out from the numerous Thai restaurants in the Charleston area by offering vegan versions of nearly everything on their menu. They can veganize everything from appetizers, soups and salads, curries, noodle and rice dishes and other entrees. And the flavors are on point, too!

Thai Taco is an Asian fusion restaurant located just off of North Main Street in Summerville. It has a large menu with a lot of veggie options from appetizers to soups to sushi to entrees.

​Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a fast-casual cafe that offers (no surprise) smoothies! But besides the plethora of smoothie options, they also offer a variety of wraps and bowls that can be made vegan. Any chicken can be subbed with plant-based "chicken", so for example, order a Caribbean Jerk Chicken wrap, sub vegan "chicken" and ask for no cheddar and it's vegan! And if you don't want "chicken", they also offer a hummus wrap or bowl. They even have a breakfast peanut butter banana crunch flatbread that can be made vegan without honey so you can eat plant-based all day!

​Verde is a fast-casual salad restaurant. You can get your salad tossed, chopped or in a wrap. You can order one of their signature creations (several of them are vegan without any changes), or build your salad to order. They also offer rice bowls and a vegan chili.

Ye Ole Fashioned is a casual diner and ice cream parlor with six locations in the area. Most locations offer some vegan items, but the two locations in Summerville have the most options. The menus in Summerville include vegan burgers, vegan sausages, a vegan grilled cheese sandwich and vegan fried pickles. They also offer several flavors of vegan ice cream which can be ordered in a cup, vegan cone, as a vegan milkshake or as a sundae!
